More About Kevin Jacques
Kevin Jacques has received a new lease on life. In 2010, he was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). This came as a shock, as there is no family history of liver disease. Doctors said a liver transplant was critical and he was placed on the transplant waiting list in 2011. Thankfully, Kevin received a life-saving liver transplant on March 18, 2018!
During this difficult time, Kevin is grateful for the love and support of his family and friends. He has a seven-year-old daughter, and he is anxious to recover from his transplant so he can be the active father he longs to be. Over the past few years, his illness has prevented him from taking part in a lot of activities, and he hopes to make up for that now. Kevin is thankful for his transplant, and is ready to get back to enjoying life with his family and keeping up with his daughter and her activities. But right now, he needs your help.
Unfortunately, Kevin’s new life comes at a very high price.
The average liver transplant costs approximately $740,000. And, that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
Kevin will have to be off work for a long period of time as he recovers from his transplant. In addition, he has to stay near the transplant center during his recovery, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food and lodging, further adding to his financial strain.
